Applications are invited for a Consultant in Medical Oncology (Melanoma and Renal Cancer) to join the Cancer Directorate at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

This new post will provide an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to support the established Melanoma and Renal Services at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our multidisciplinary team committed to providing high quality clinical care and improving outcomes for patients through clinical and translational research.

The Oncology Centre at Addenbrooke’s serves a core population of 1.3 million, with an extended catchment area of 2-4 million for rare tumours. The Cancer Centre provides a regional Oncology Service with a strong research base and extensive clinical trials portfolio.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust includes Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospitals. We are one of the largest and busiest hospitals in the country with an outstanding reputation that is down to the exceptional people that work here.

Our philosophy is to keep the patient at the heart of everything we do. Every person that works for the Trust, regardless of their role, comes into contact with our patients and visitors and is expected to uphold our values of Together - Safe, Kind, Excellent at all times.

We look for people who are willing to go the extra mile, not because they are asked to, but because they are committed to being part of a healthcare team that delivers an excellent caring service to our patients.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees, volunteers and contractors to share this commitment.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust. Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
