The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, is the principal healthcare service provider in the Cayman Islands, offering the most comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and public health services through a 124-bed hospital and four District Health Centres on Grand Cayman, an 18-bed hospital in Cayman Brac and a satellite outpatient clinic in Little Cayman.
We invite applications for the following positions:
The Neurologist provides high-quality patient-centred neurological services at the Cayman Islands Hospital, Grand Cayman, and Faith Hospital, Cayman Brac, as necessary. The post holder conducts electroneurodiagnostic investigations and treatment as essential inclusive of NCS, EMG, and EEG.
Primary Responsibilities include :
The successful applicant is responsible for providing 24-hour neurological services, including admissions and outpatient clinics.
Will also manage patients as referred by other colleagues from Emergency Room, General Practice, and Critical Care Units as well as non-HSA physicians. The post holder will provide coverage to general medical patients in the absence of the Internists. Will participate in continuing professional development, providing workshops on neurology topics for medical staff.
Qualification & Experience: The successful applicant must have a Medical Degree and specialist qualification in Neurology. A minimum of seven (7) years of post-graduate experience in Neurology (including Internal Medicine training) either in a clinic or hospital setting. Must be competent in performing Nerve Conduction Studies and EMGs and be able to supervise the performance of EEG as well as its interpretation. The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team is essential.
EAR NOSE & THROAT (ENT) SURGEON
The ENT Surgeon provides a quality patient centred ENT service at the Cayman Islands Hospital, Grand Cayman, as well as a backup service for Faith Hospital, Cayman Brac. Work is generated by way of patient referrals from other consultants and the Accident and Emergency departments as well as private practitioners. The postholder is expected to also refer patients to other disciplines within the Cayman Islands Hospital, as indicated by the clinical needs of the patients.
Primary Responsibilities include: The successful applicant is responsible for providing 24-hour ENT service in collaboration with one (1) full-time staff and one (1) visiting ENT consultant. The post holder provides backup services to the Accident and Emergency department and involves colleagues from other disciplines where the clinical need is required in the management of patients. Will also provide regular ENT surgical outpatient services and ward rounds, including allergy clinics and hearing aid workshops on an agreed basis.
Works in close liaison with the Anaesthetists and Operating Theatre nursing staff to ensure the efficient running of the operating schedule.
Qualification & Experience: The successful applicant must have a MB ChB and FRCS or equivalent. A minimum of seven (7) years post-graduate practical experience in the specialty relevant to the services required. The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team is essential.
The Vascular Surgeon diagnoses and manages pathologies of the lymphatic system and blood vessels outside the brain and heart. Responsibilities includes treating various health conditions such as carotid artery diseases, aneurysms, critical limb ischemia, venous diseases, and lymphoedemas. Works closely with the Haemodialysis unit to provide timely placement of dialysis access. Advises the HSA Management and provides leadership in the organization on matters about vascular procedures, techniques, and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities include: The successful applicant manages inpatients and outpatients weekly, including emergency and routine surgical procedures. Work is primarily generated from patient referrals within the HSA, as well as from the private sectors and local hospitals. Will perform reconstructive and restorative operations including balloon angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, removal of blood clots, artery repair or bypass, access for haemodialysis and vascular access.
Qualification & Experience: The successful applicant must possess a Medical Degree and post graduate qualifications in Vascular Medicine. A minimum of three (3) years post specialization hospital experience in the specialty relevant to the services required. Additionally, must have significant experience in reconstructive vascular surgical and endovascular techniques. The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team is essential.
The Podiatrist facilitates the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and illnesses relating to the feet, ankle, and lower legs. Postholder works closely with and supports Orthopaedics, Pain Management, and Physiotherapy departments. Manages an average of 10-15 patients per day.
Primary Responsibilities include:
The successful applicant is responsible for assessing patients' medical conditions associated with the patient’s leg, ankle, and feet to diagnose illnesses or injury. Postholder treats deformities and ailments with techniques such as casting or laser therapy. In addition, also conducts foot and ankle surgeries and prescribes orthotics and medications as necessary.
Qualification & Experience: The successful applicant must have a Doctorate degree in Podiatric Medicine and have good standing with a recognised Board. A minimum of three (3) years practical experience required either in a clinic or hospital setting. Must have in-depth knowledge of modern surgical and therapeutic treatments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, along with a high level of patience and empathy. The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team is essential.
CAYMAN ISLANDS LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must be registered in either of the following jurisdictions to be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands; Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and/or Australia.
Remuneration is based on a salary range of USD$158,195 to USD$190,300 per annum
Additional on call allowance is provided depending on specialty
(Note there are no direct taxes in the Cayman Islands)
