Consultant in Community Paediatrics - Designated Doctor for Safeguarding
Applications are invited for a replacement Consultant post in Community Paediatrics at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
The post is part of an exciting programme and a significant planned re-design of the service to strengthen the support we are able to give our complex children both in and out of hospital. Special interests in epilepsy, Looked after Children and Designated Doctor for Paediatric Safeguarding are of particular interest but applicants with other interests would be strongly considered.
The post will join the team of 6 Consultant Community Paediatricians and of 18 Consultants in general and neonatal paediatrics.
The post holders will be part of the Community Child Health team taking consultant responsibilities. There will be an opportunity to revise job planning as part of ongoing service reorganisation.
An enthusiastic commitment to partnership working with Cornwall’s Primary Care Trust and the Local Authority is required and the ability to respond to the changing demands of Community Child Health services will be expected.
The department is actively involved in the delivery of the education programme of the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry [PCMD] and University of Exeter Medical School [UEMS]. Consideration will be given to a suitable applicant being awarded a senior honorary academic title with UEMS. Subject to academic performance, a joint academic/ clinical appointment might be possible in the future.
