Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (YDH) is a modern hospital surrounded by stunning countryside with good transport links to cities such as Bath, Bristol, Exeter, is just over two hours from London, with a 40-minute drive to the coast.

As an ambitious Trust with a friendly, family feel, Yeovil Hospital aims to be a fundamental part of a vibrant, sustainable and collaborative healthcare community; patients’ first choice for acute health care, founded on a reputation of quality, safety and compassion. Running a highly-successful quality improvement initiative, the trust looks to drive innovation with patient-centred thinking.

YDH has 320 beds and provides acute care, including maternity services, for a growing population of approximately 200,000, mostly in South Somerset, North and West Dorset, and parts of Mendip. The Trust has a private patients’ facility, the Kingston Wing, which offers a personal service in state-of-the-art clinical facilities, with all profits being invested back into NHS healthcare.

Our successful nurse recruitment campaigns, both in the UK and overseas, have put us in a strong position to provide excellent care for our patients and our active Research and Development department is involved in a wide range of local, national and international research studies, with record numbers of patients recruited onto trials this year.

The Trust provides outpatient and inpatient consultant services for a range of specialisms including general medicine, cardiology, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, trauma and paediatrics.

As an accredited Trauma Unit, YDH’s Emergency Department provides varied and interesting clinical challenges with a reputation for consistently performing well against the four-hour wait target. The ED team saw more than 50,000 patients through their doors last year and the hospital performed 122,281 radiology tests, held 197,631 outpatient appointments and assisted in 1,463 babies being born.

Yeovil Hospital’s iCARE model, which has established the principles of exemplary patient care, patient and employee experience, has attracted national interest and is embedded in everything we do, following our vision to care for our patients as if they are one of our family.
