Jessica Kimpton is a clinical editor for The BMJ and wider BMJ journals and also a paediatric doctor sub-specialising in neonatal medicine.
Jessica did her undergraduate training at the University of Manchester, where she obtained an unconditional offer and academic scholarship to study medicine and funding towards an intercalated Master of Research in Medical Sciences (graduating with Distinction). During her Academic Foundation Programme and NIHR funded Academic Clinical Fellowship in paediatrics, she worked at the Centre for the Developing Brain at St Thomas’s Hospital, London. Here she developed her research interests in neonatal neurodevelopment using advanced neonatal MRI brain imaging techniques. Her academic work has culminated in multiple publications, presentations and prizes, including at international levels. Clinically she works as a neonatal subspecialty registrar in London, a neonatal life support instructor and for a neonatal study group, NeoTRIPs. She is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, British Association of Perinatal Medicine and The Neonatal Society.
