Orthopaedic surgeons: as strong as an ox and almost twice as clever? Multicentre prospective comparative study

Re: Orthopaedic surgeons: as strong as an ox and almost twice as clever? Multicentre prospective comparative study

Dear Sir

I read with great interest the article by Subramanian et al (yes, although beeing an Anaesthetist I am capable of reading).
Please allow me the following comment: when we disregard the "top scorer" in the intelligence test in the group of the orthopods and the low outlier amongst the anaesthesiologists the test result probabely no longer is significantly different.

The new conclusions might be:
1. the clever orthopod and the less intelligent anaesthetist are the exceptions
2. perhaps this top performing othopod is a former anaesthesiologist who changed his specialty to orthopedics due to better income. This again might lead to the conclusion that anaesthetists are clever...

Seasons greetings

Competing interests: Beeing paid for working as an Anaesthetist.
