I would argue that this study is not even single blinded and that
answer c is incorrect. I think it would be quite obvious when inserting a
cannula to detect if a person's hand was warmer than usual, although it
must be noted that the nurse anaesthetist was 'unaware' of the study
hypothesis according to the original publication. Whether this was actually
achieved is debatable but given the nature of the intervention, the study
would then be susceptible to performance bias.
