Heterogeneous subject group: can we categorise them?

The current study highlights the effectiveness of the psychosocial
intervention in the management of alcohol related disorders. over the
years various pharmacological as well as non pharmacological interventions
have been developed for the management of the problem. these interventions
have showed variable response rates in different clinical trials. inspite
of years of research, we are yet far from developing a gold standard. the
probable reason is likely to be inherent in the disorder itself, in that
alcohol related disorders represent a heterogenous group of disorder with
variable patient profile in terms of age , sex, duration, severity among
others. if we could refine the inclusion criteria in such studies or could
analyse the results in terms of effectiveness in various sub groups of
subjects may be we would be able to get more meaningful results.
