Rapid Response:

Thank you BMJ/ Dr. Summerfield

Dear Dr. Summerfield,

Thank you for the courage and integrity you have shown
in publishing your article on the appalling health
situation in the West Bank and Gaza. BMJ should also
be commended for the professionalism it has exhibited
in running the article. The world desperately needs to
be informed of the humanitarian crisis in the Occupied
Territories, but it is becoming ever harder to find
honest accounts in either the mainstream media or in
professional journals.

The backlash to this publication will undoubtedly be
vicious from certain quarters, as some powerful
interest groups are determined to suppress such vital
information. May you and the editors at BMJ have the
strength of heart to withstand the attacks and
continue to conscientiously pursue your professional
duties and studies, in every way. You have done the
world a great service, and I wish you well in all
future endeavors.

Sincerely yours,
Mary Akashah
