Ann McPherson interview
Ann McPherson died of pancreatic cancer in May 2011. A few weeks before her death she won BMJ Group's Lifetime Achievement Award and took part in this video to talk about her career as a GP and patient advocate. Ann also talks about the books she wrote to answer children’s questions about health and illness in a way that they could understand. These include Mum—I Feel Funny and The Diary of a Teenage Health Freak.
Ann also worked with clinical pharmacologist Andrew Herxheimer on DIPEx (Database of Individual Patient Experiences) and its two multimedia websites, healthtalkonline.org and youthhealthtalk.org. These sites help patients, carers, and health professionals get reliable information about various disorders.
