Adoptive immunotherapy with cytotoxic T lymphocytes specific for minor histocompatibility antigens restricted to the haemopoietic system. Responder lymphocytes from the allogeneic donor (who may be a sibling or unrelated matched donor) are stimulated by dendritic cells pulsed with antigens expressed specifically by haemopoietic cells from the recipient. This leads to the expansion of a specific T cell clone that is able to lyse recipient haemopoietic cells but is unable to attack the recipient tissues, which are susceptible to graft versus host disease.
