Robin began his ENT training in Dundee, but then moved to the Liverpool ENT Hospital to further develop this interest. In 1972 Robin was appointed as a consultant ENT surgeon in Glasgow. During his years in Glasgow Robin served on council for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, was president of the Scottish ENT society and examiner for the intercollegiate board, and was the clinical director for ENT in the Victoria Infirmary and Southern General Hospital for many years. His son, Malcolm, has followed his father’s path into medicine and surgery.
Robin enjoyed music and played the piano expertly. He also enjoyed playing the fiddle and had played with the Strathspey and Reel Society. Robin was keen to travel and enjoyed Italy, the Lake District, and West Cork.
He leaves his wife, Babs; daughter Valerie; sons Alistair and Malcolm; and two granddaughters, Ruby and Genevieve. [Malcolm Kell, Sandy Cooper, James Mowat]
