Care UK tells GPs about private options for non-NHS funded procedures

A private company that provides NHS care has contacted around 300 general practices around Bristol and Devizes to tell them about a new “self pay” option for procedures that are not available on the NHS.

This option allows patients to pay for procedures such as vasectomies or the removal of benign lumps that are not funded by the NHS or are strictly controlled by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).

The cheapest procedure offered is earwax removal for £160 (€181; $214), while a vasectomy costs £1153 and a total hip replacement costs £8994.
