A consultant haematologist who belittled colleagues, held out the promise of a cure to a patient with advanced lymphoma, and entered a patient’s home to leave a note has been suspended for nine months by a fitness to practise tribunal that called her conduct a potential risk to patients.
Finella Brito-Babapulle, 63, inappropriately contacted patients within a few days of finishing her locum job at St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight, in one case offering “false hope” of a cure to an 84 year old patient with lymphoma.
