Proton pump inhibitor use does not raise dementia and Alzheimer’s risk, study suggests

A US study1 has not confirmed earlier reports that proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use is linked to an increased risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.2 In contrast, the latest study, published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society,1 found that continuous or intermittent PPI use was associated with a lower risk of cognitive decline.
