Grassroots GPs have unanimously demanded that the BMA negotiate with the government for the full reimbursement of medical indemnity costs for providing NHS services.
Delegates at the annual local medical committees conference in Edinburgh on 18 May backed a motion that welcomed the contribution towards rising costs recently negotiated in England between the BMA and the government. But in the context of the spiralling costs of medical indemnity, the motion also stated that the contractual uplift to practices in England had been “insufficient to cover the actual rise in indemnity costs.” …
