India has passed a law that makes it illegal to discriminate against people with HIV/AIDS in terms of healthcare delivery, housing, admission to education, employment, and a range of public services.
The government said, “HIV/AIDS has been associated with a lot of stigma and discrimination. Though this has diminished over the years, because of government efforts and the contributions of civil society, it continues. The new law will go a long way in ending it.”
