Insomnia is linked to higher risk of developing asthma

People with chronic insomnia are three times more likely to develop asthma than those without sleep problems, a study in the European Respiratory Journal suggests.1
Insomnia is known to be highly prevalent among asthmatic patients, as studies indicate a prevalence of 44-70%, compared with 7-37% in the general population. However, until now no prospective studies had investigated whether insomnia patients have a higher risk of developing asthma at a later stage.
