BMA urges government to grant permanent residence to European doctors working in UK

Healthcare leaders have urged the government to grant permanent residence as soon as possible to doctors from other European countries working in the UK to mitigate the potential effect of Brexit on the NHS.

After the government triggered Article 50 this week to start the process for the UK to leave the European Union, the BMA said that it was vital for the government to remove uncertainty by securing the rights of doctors from the European Economic Area to remain in the UK.
