History of migraine may indicate risk of ischaemic stroke

A history of migraine, particularly without aura, should be considered as a marker for increased risk of ischaemic stroke caused by cervical artery dissection, researchers have said in JAMA Neurology.

The multicentre Italian Project on Stroke in Young Adults study, one of the largest registries of patients with early onset ischaemic stroke, found that migraine was consistently associated with cervical artery dissection.1 …
