Dr De Graaf (rapid response, 17 Jan) does not appear to understand our (English) system of Economics.
We do not treat the source of the disease. If we did, the Chancellor of the Exchequer would lose billions of pounds. Therefore, there would be less money available for Her Majesty's Government to spend.
As some one one once described it - throw people into a river and then try to fish them out.
