Healthy lifestyle halves heart risk in people at high genetic risk, study finds

A healthy lifestyle, including regular physical activity, eating healthily, and avoiding obesity and smoking, nearly halves the risk of coronary events in people at high genetic risk for coronary artery disease, results from a combined analysis of four large studies have shown.1
Genetics and lifestyle both contribute to individual risk of coronary artery disease, but the extent to which increased genetic risk can by offset by a healthy lifestyle was unknown.
