Colorado’s bid to create first single payer system in US faces uphill fight

A measure on the 8 November ballot in Colorado that would create the first single payer healthcare system in the United States faces apparently insurmountable opposition, as polls indicate that about 60% of voters oppose the law and that only about 30% approve.
The Colorado Creation of ColoradoCare System Initiative, also known as amendment 69, would amend the state constitution to establish a healthcare payment system that would finance universal healthcare for all Colorado residents.
State initiatives allow voters to bypass their legislators and place measures on election ballots through a signature gathering process. If a majority of voters support the initiative, the measure becomes law.
