Doctors and other health professionals have come together to urge greater action to tackle poor physical health in people with severe mental illness.
A report published by organisations including the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, and the Royal College of General Practitioners makes a number of recommendations to ensure that people with severe mental illness receive the same standards of physical healthcare as the general population and to reduce their risk of premature death.1
