Women suffered appalling problems which gave rise to this case but I would respectfully ask that Jay llangaratne, or others who might want to speculate, are first sufficiently informed about all of the organisational and personal circumstances at that time.

For reasons on which I won’t elaborate here, RCHT had earlier been placed in a regrettable and unnecessary state of organisational chaos and confusion leaving it for a long time without a stable, functional Board. That almost certainly played a part in some of the failures of governance that occurred.

There are indeed wider lessons still to be learned but I beg to suggest that, in this specific case, they were probably not quite as Jay llangaratne surmises.
