Open heart surgery devices may be contaminated, US health officials warn

US health officials have warned healthcare providers and patients of the potential risk of infection from contaminated devices commonly used in open heart surgery.1 The devices, Stöckert 3T heater-coolers, made by LivaNova (formerly Sorin Group Deutschland GmbH), have been used in both Europe and North America.
