BMA Council to consider options before proceeding with five day strikes

The BMA Council is set to debate the next steps for junior doctors in their contract dispute at a meeting on Wednesday 14 September, against a backdrop of growing calls from junior doctors to ballot members again before pressing ahead with the five day strikes planned for October, November, and December.

Last week the BMA called off a five day strike that was due to start on Monday 12 September after thousands of junior doctors contacted the BMA to express concern about the safety of patients in the event of such a prolonged withdrawal of their labour.1
