NHS England unveils mental health plan

NHS England has laid out plans for how extra funding, rising to £1 billion (€1.19bn; $1.32bn) a year by 2020-21, will be spent on mental health services over the next five years.1

The plans build on the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health, published in February,2 which pledged to end the underfunding of mental health services that had led to “hundreds and thousands of lives put on hold or ruined.”

The implementation plan, published on 19 July, detailed how the extra money would be spent.
