Gap in lifespan of rich and poor grows for the first time in 150 years

The gap between the life expectancy of rich and poor people in England and Wales has increased for the first time in almost 150 years, a report from the Cass Business School and the International Longevity Centre-UK (ILC-UK) has found.1

Using data from the Human Mortality Database, the report’s authors measured the differences in age between the earliest 10% of adult deaths in England and Wales and the latest 5%.
