Nearly six in 10 medical colleges in India did not publish any research in past 10 years

More than half (57%) of India’s 579 medical colleges did not publish any research in peer reviewed medical journals during the past 10 years, a study has found. States with the most private medical colleges performed the worst.

Researchers led by Samiran Nundy, dean of the Ganga Ram Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, New Delhi, used Scopus, a research database, to assess research output from Indian medical colleges during 2005-14. The study was published in Current Medicine Research and Practice.1
