This News story (BMJ 2016;352:i908, doi:10.1136/bmj.i908) incorrectly states that “category 3 areas [should aim] to have interrupted the indigenous transmission of malaria by 2017 and for malaria-free status to be maintained until 2030.” The target year for interrupting transmission of malaria in category 3 areas is 2027. We apologise for this error.
