The NHS in England is to try out new ways to equip patients with medical technologies in their home, as it seeks to improve the care of older patients, people with long term conditions, and people with mental health problems.
A new scheme, known as NHS Innovation Test Beds, will see the NHS partnering with leading technology firms such as Verily (formerly Google Life Sciences), IBM, and Philips to test the effectiveness of issuing devices such as wearable monitors for patients to use at home.
