Reminder letters for bowel screening tests improve uptake

Only four in 10 people aged 55 currently accept the offer of a one-off flexible sigmoidoscopy screening test under NHS England’s bowel scope screening programme, but a reminder letter can boost uptake, a study published in the British Journal of Cancer shows.1
The study targeted a randomly selected group of 155 people previously invited for bowel scope screening in the London boroughs of Brent and Harrow, where fewer than the four in 10 national average currently accepted their bowel scope invitation.
