Jailed surgeon is given leave to appeal against conviction

A surgeon whose jailing for manslaughter over a patient’s death at a private hospital caused widespread alarm among doctors has won permission to appeal against his conviction.

Three judges at the Court of Appeal in London granted the colorectal surgeon David Sellu, 68, leave to appeal after a short hearing.
