An overwhelming majority of junior doctors who were balloted on taking strike action over changes to their contract in England have voted in favour.
The BMA said that of the 37 155 junior doctor members in England it balloted on industrial action, 28 305 responded, a 76% response rate. In total there are 54 074 junior doctors in England.
Of those balloted, 99% voted in favour of taking industrial action short of strike, and 98% voted in favour of strike action.
