The UK General Medical Council has asked the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care to consider referring the case of a doctor who viewed child pornography on his computer to the High Court, after the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service decided to let him stay on the medical register.
The GMC’s chief executive, Niall Dickson, told the Derby Telegraph that he was “appalled” by the tribunal service’s decision not to erase the consultant cardiologist Steven Burn from the register, after the GMC called for him to be struck off.
