Royal colleges express concern over junior doctors’ contract as petition calls for strike

More than 50 000 people have signed an online petition urging doctors to take strike action against the imposition of a new junior doctor contract.1

Junior doctors are concerned about proposed changes to their contract that they say will lead to an effective pay cut and increase their workload. The BMA said that the proposed changes were “bad for patients, bad for junior doctors, and bad for the NHS” and that it would resist their imposition.2
