Eight specific clinical signs associated with death within three days in patients with cancer have been identified in a study published online in the journal Cancer.
Knowing when death is imminent means that close family members can be informed, investigations and aggressive treatment can be discontinued, and the patient can be made comfortable, the authors noted.
