India records large rise in malaria cases in 2014

The number of malaria cases in India last year rose to 1 070 513, up from 881 730 in 2013, provisional figures have shown.1 The 2014 prevalence is similar to that seen in 2012, when 1 067 824 cases were recorded. The states of Tripura and Odisha saw the largest increases, with rises of 540% and 70%, respectively.
