FC Bayern team doctors resign amid rumours of “damaged trust” with management

The orthopaedist and sports doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt and his three assistant doctors have resigned as team doctors of the German football club Bayern Munich (FC Bayern), triggering headlines on sports pages worldwide.
Müller-Wohlfahrt, also team doctor for the German men’s national football team, said that he and his medical team resigned because trust between the doctors and FC Bayern had been irreparably damaged. He made the announcement on 16 April, the day after FC Bayern suffered an unexpected 3-1 loss to Porto in Portugal in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
