GPs in England must report certain patient harms under new rules

GPs and private healthcare providers in England are under a new legal duty from 1 April to tell patients if something goes wrong with their care and they experience specific types of harm.

The statutory duty of candour, which has applied to NHS hospital trusts since last November, has been extended to primary care and the independent sector.1
