Nearly a third (29%) of doctors who took part in a BMA survey have experienced a “black alert” in the past three months—issued when a hospital reaches capacity and has to turn away patients—up from 7% of doctors in the same period last year. Nearly half (48%) of the respondents have experienced breaches in accident and emergency targets, the survey found.
