The headline to this News story suggests that Melody Torcolacci was forced by Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, to take a leave of absence (BMJ 2015;350:h999, doi:10.1136/bmj.h999). In fact, Torcolacci asked for a leave of absence and the university accepted her request. We apologise for any misunderstanding.
