Thomas Harold Martin Warburton (“Martin”) did his house jobs at Leytonstone and Luton and Dunstable hospitals. He came from a long established corn feed and flour family business at Bexhill-on-Sea, a stable home with a strong Baptist tradition. He excelled in science and began work as a lab assistant at Hastings Grammar School for Boys, before joining the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1940.
