Campaigners have welcomed a World Health Organization proposal urging researchers to submit the main findings of clinical trials for publication in a peer reviewed journal within 18 months of completion, or 30 months at the most, through an open access method.
It also called for key outcomes to be made publicly available on a primary clinical trial registry. And if a registry does not have a results database the findings should be posted on a free to access, publicly available, searchable institutional website of the regulatory sponsor, funder, or principal investigator, it added.
