Vaccination campaigns in Syria face serious disruption after at least 15 infants aged under 2 died from receiving a heavy dose of anaesthetic by mistake, when they were supposed to receive a measles vaccine.
The infants in the northern, opposition controlled provinces of Idlib and Deir el Zour showed signs of shock and then suffocated shortly after receiving atracurium, a neuromuscular blocking agent used to temporarily paralyse the respiratory muscles …
