Tribunal puts conditions on psychiatrist who circumcised in unregistered clinic

A psychiatrist who carried out unregulated circumcisions must work under imposed conditions for two years, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service has ruled.
Hassan Abdulla, 63, admitted failing to obtain informed consent and a medical history in the case of one patient and failing to maintain an appropriate surgical environment or sterile instruments in the clinic he ran from a private home in Leicester.
Last year Abdulla was convicted at Leicester Magistrates’ Court of performing a regulated surgical activity without being registered with the Care Quality Commission. He admitted circumcising 41 boys between 25 …
