The private company Serco is to withdraw from providing clinical services in the United Kingdom, having experienced heavy financial losses on its NHS contracts.
In a stock exchange announcement,1 the outsourcing specialist said that it had taken the decision after a review of the cost of delivering “improved service levels” and meeting performance obligations for its contracts, which had identified additional costs of £3.9m in the past six months and nearly £18m in the year ending 31 December 2013.
