A haematologist who lied to police and in court about a car crash involving his wife has been struck off by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. Maduka Ogwueleka, 34, who worked at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, was convicted in February with his wife Chioma, 37, of perverting the course of justice.
Ogwueleka and his wife both received suspended sentences at Maidstone Crown Court, of nine and four months, respectively. They escaped a custodial sentence, Cairns Nelson QC told them, because “I do not propose to visit your stupidity on your children.”
