In a straight party line vote the US House of Representatives voted on 30 July to allow John Boehner, an Ohio Republican and the House speaker, to move ahead with a lawsuit against President Barack Obama. House Republicans charged that the president had overstepped his legal authority when he delayed for a year the implementation of a provision of the Affordable Care Act that required employers to provide health coverage to their employees or be fined.
